Local business owners and operators will gather in Kensington this week to discuss how to elevate their enterprises and advance the future of Randwick City’s business landscape.

Thursday’s breakfast workshop is hosted by Randwick City Council, and led by esteemed business leaders and policy experts, including the former President of the Haymarket Chamber of Commerce, Simon Chan AM; CEO and founder of creative firm Emotive, Simon Joyce, and Candice Keller, Associate Director of Visitor Economy Policy at Destination NSW.

Randwick Mayor Philipa Veitch said that the forum is the latest in Council’s ongoing efforts to support the local economy by empowering and connecting Randwick City business operators.

“Locally owned small businesses are undoubtedly the drivers of the Randwick City economy, contributing so much to our community and to the unique character of our town centres.

“Whether they’re seasoned operators or just starting out, I’m looking forward to welcoming representatives of local business to the workshop and hearing their ideas about the future of the Randwick City’s thriving business landscape.”

The workshop is an example of activities guided by Council’s Economic Development Strategy 2032 which focusses Council resources on empowering community members to run thriving businesses; developing vibrant, active places; and attracting people to Randwick City.

By holding the event in Kensington, Mayor Philipa Veitch said she hopes the business operators from Kensington and Kingsford town centres are encouraged to attend.

“Both Kensington and Kingsford have undergone significant change in recent years, stemming from the completion of the light rail project, new developments and increasing population density. These projects have brought with them challenges and opportunities.

“Each town centre has something unique and special to offer to visitors from all over Sydney. This workshop is part of our continuing work with local business and chambers of commerce to develop each centre's character and unique identity and to encourage people to dine and shop locally.”
