Blitz is an intensive cleaning and maintenance program delivered by Council in local town centres and high streets. This one-day program involves staff from multiple departments deep cleaning and refreshing the streets, furniture and natural elements.

The types of works being undertaken will include sweeping, pressure washing, graffiti and chewing gum removal, painting, landscaping, tree works and new plantings, repairs to benches, bins, pavers, signs and replacement signage, along with anything else that needs fixing.

The program intends to give our places an instant boost, to support local businesses and we hope to increase footfall in our high streets.

Council’s Place Coordinators meet local businesses to inform them about the works and to identify areas for focus and to get business feedback about any challenges they are facing or successes. Also, to listen to any ideas about how we can improve our local areas.

This is a rolling program throughout 2024.
