Join Eric Avery, Indigenous musician and dance artist, for an incredible and intimate violin performance in the Macquarie Watchtower.

Eric Avery, Kabi Marrawuy Mumbulla, is a violinist, vocalist dancer and composer from the Ngiyampaa, Yuin and Gumbangirr people of NSW. He works with his family’s custodial songs and his haunting compositions often feature him singing with his violin accompaniment, predominantly in the Ngiyampaa language. The La Perouse Museum is delighted to welcome Eric to our 2024 Inside the Watchtower Series, and invites you to join us for Reconciliation Week 2024.

Eric began learning piano at age 7 and continued on to learning violin and classical music by ear at 11 years of age. He's created music to exist in Indigenous contemporary dance worlds, has worked with the Australian Ballet from 2013, and has also worked with Tina Arena as violinist for her Australian May Tour. He is a 2021 Myer Creative Fellow.

Doors open at 6pm.

Performance from 6.15 - 7pm.

Please note: the Macquarie Watchtower is not accessible for wheelchair or walker. It can only be reached up a large stone step with no handrails. We apologise for any inconvenience. If you have any mobility concerns please contact the La Perouse Museum. Be sure to wear warm clothes and comfortable footwear, as you'll walk across the grassy La Perouse Headland to access the Watchtower.
