Features

Maroubra Skate Park is located within Arthur Byrne Reserve, adjacent to Maroubra Beach. It has approximately 1,100 square metres of skateable area. The design caters for both street and professional skaters, children and adults.

The skate park comprises a large swimming pool style bowl with two different depths (a deep end and a shallow end), half pipes and rails. The Maroubra Skate Park is very popular and is normally busy during the day with skaters and bikers showing off their stuff.

Nearby facilities include toilets, a kiosk, cafes, taps, bubblers, shade and first aid facilities. There are regular buses that go to Maroubra Beach and plenty of parking nearby.

History

Maroubra Skate Park was first conceived around 1997 and was developed in consultation with youth workers, local skaters, residents and Council's sport and recreation staff. The facility was funded from a grant provided by the New South Wales Department of Land and Water Conservation that was matched dollar for dollar with funding from Randwick City Council.
