Studio Space
A space to explore and produce audio content.
Situated on Level 3 of the Lionel Bowen Library, Maroubra, The Studio Space is an exciting new creative space that supports library programs in the areas of audio recording and production.
Studio Equipment
Our studio is not just a sound booth, it has all the equipment needed to produce recordings of many types. With acoustic panels to absorb unwanted sounds and reduce external noise, The Studio Space is fully equipped with musical instruments, microphones, amplifier, mixer, digital audio interface, synthesizers, MIDI controllers and a capable laptop to run a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation).
Hire does not include use of laptops or DAW. Hirers must bring their own laptop with suitable recording software and drivers to connect to the Behringer UMX digital audio interface or a compatible micro-SD card to use with the RØDECaster Pro.
Capacity for creation
The Studio Space has the capacity to run programs on topics such as:
- Digital Audio Workstations, recording and mixing
- Podcasting
- Digital music creation
- Analogue or traditional music mixing
- Audio production for video and Foley work
- Music content business programs
With the capacity of our studio, we hope that we can support content creation in the community from podcast creation to music recording and production.

Randwick City Library Venues - Conditions of Hire
- Hire is subject to availability. Phone the Library on (02) 9093 6400 or complete the form below.
- A 10% booking cancellation fee applies. Cancellation fees of ‘full cost of hire’ apply for cancellations within 7 days prior to the booked date.
- Rooms are only available for hire on weekdays within Library hours.
- Set up and pack up times must be included in your hire time.
- Council events take priority.
- Commercial/Private rates: Commercial/Private is defined as a group, organisation or person that charges an entry fee or a participation charge, or the hiring of the venue is for a private function. Also relates to any booking that competes with local business.
- Non-Commercial rates: Non-Commercial is defined as a group, non-profit or charity organisation or person that does not charge a cover charge. Parties claiming non-commercial rates must provide a Certificate of Endorsement as an Income Tax Exempt charitable entity from the Australian Tax Office or a copy of the entity's constitution including a not-for-profit clause.
- Loss or damage of equipment/facility will be charged at cost of replacement or repairs plus GST
- The hirer shall not hold Council responsible for the interruption or cancellation of bookings due to circumstances beyond its reasonable control (including any Force Majeure Event). Council will not be liable for any costs related whatsoever to the cancellation of a booking. Council reserves the right to withhold hiring of the venue if necessary due to circumstances beyond its reasonable control (including any Force Majeure Event).

The Studio Space is a recording and production space.
The Studio Space can accommodate 2-3 people at a time and is not suitable for rehearsal or practice sessions. Priority is given to recording and production activities.
