Heffron Netball shade structure & tiered seating

Heffron Netball Shade Structure

Background

Heffron Park is the largest recreational park in Randwick City. It is a very popular park and well used for training and competition on weekends by a large range of local sporting clubs including netball, cricket, touch football, cycling, rugby union, rugby league, Oztag and soccer.

As part of Council’s continued effort to provide and maintain high-quality public spaces, a new shade structure and tiered seating area is proposed to be constructed for the Netball courts 1 to 6, to ensure that the area can better serve the community.

Heffron Centre Netball Courts

The new shade structure and tiered seating are planned to provide an all-weather playing environment to allow for the use of the courts 365 days a year along with spectator seating for netball games. In addition, it has the potential to be used for other community events outside of sporting usage.

Key features

The new facility will:

  • Provide all-weather playing surface for netball at Heffron Park over six courts.
  • Maximise the safety of parents and children while using the outdoor area.
  • Install the new structures with minimum disruption to the netball courts.
  • Enhance the look and attractiveness of the netball courts by building a shade structure and seating arrangement that is appropriately commensurate with the local environment and park.
  • Provide long-lasting and low maintenance structures that will maintain their appearance and effectiveness in the harsh environment.
