Maroubra Surf Life Saving Club Redevelopment

Maroubra Surf Life Saving Club

Background

The Maroubra Surf Life Saving Club is one of Australia’s first Lifesaving clubs and was established in 1906. It is an active community organisation providing volunteer patrols of Maroubra Beach, lifesaving education, surf sport activities and kids development programs within the local community.

The club currently makes use of an existing building on the northern end of Maroubra Beach, however the building is deteriorating and can no longer meet the needs of the club in providing their community service.

To respond to this challenge, Randwick City Council is undertaking a redevelopment of the existing club, involving the removal of the existing building and construction of a new, high quality surf club to serve the club and community.

The proposed redevelopment will:

  • Allow the club to adequately provide services to its members and the community.
  • Take advantage of its location and connection to the beach and surrounds.
  • Make the venue more attractive for use by the wider community, and
  • Bring it up to today’s expected levels of building compliance and comfort.
